As the trip to Sheffield draws nearer, I anticipate an exciting and challenging time ahead for the next 2-3 weeks. Our first challenge I suspect will involve the stopover in Dubai where we will get to experience a culture and climate very different to what we know. I expect it to be uncomfortably hot within the city that exists in contrast to its desert surroundings. I also expect their customs will demand respect but will prove fascinating. I am most looking forward to our arrival in the UK. The months of anticipation for this subject and its consequent journey have come quite quickly! I have always possessed a great interest in the history and landscape of England, as well as my interest in the literature that has emerged over the centuries. I almost expect Sheffield to look somewhat industrial given its rich history in accordance with the industrial revolution and its speciality housing estates. I wonder if they will look dissimilar to other housing allotments in the UK, such as perhaps York by contrast. But all the same, I imagine it will be quintessentially British. I look forward to the surprises and sights on offer in a country unbeknown to me as I participate and explore the rich history and heritage of England.
